Lo mejor de Lisa Stansfield

Lisa Stansfield es una cantante inglesa que , con influencias pop y soul del estilo Barry White , se ha convertido en una de las intérpretes femeninas màs respetadas del genero. 

Naciò el 11 de abril de 1966 en la ciudad de Manchester, antes de lanzarse como solista, fue cantante de la banda The Blue Zone, y luego de un par de éxitos menores, en 1989 debuta en solitario con el disco "Affection", que tuvo un éxito inmediato gracias a la canciòn "All around the world" (acompañada de un video). Este tema fue declarada mejor canciòn internacional del año, alcanzando el número uno tanto en U.S.A. como en el Reino Unido. De este disco tambièn tuvieron buen suceso "This is the right time" y "Live together". 

En 1991 lanza su segundo trabajo titulado "Change" cuyo tema que da tìtulo al disco tambièn fue un èxito rotundo. Este álbum continuò con la linea estilística de "Affection", pero con canciones mucho màs logradas como "Time to make you mine" , "Symptoms of loneliness & heartache" y sobre todo "All woman". Como souvenir de sendos vinilos, hay una actuaciòn en el estadio Wembley que es grabada en muy buena calidad en 1992. 

Tambièn en ese mismo año se produce el recordado homenaje a Freddie Mercury, donde Lisa tiene una interpretaciónrecordada y genial de la canción "I want to break free", donde sale vestida de mucama y con una aspiradora a la usanza Mercury. 

En 1993 lanza "So Natural" un disco que increiblemente no tuvo el èxito de los anteriores, pero a mi criterio el mejor álbum de su carrera. Con canciones como "So natural" , "Never set me free" , "I give you everything" y "In all the right places", canción incluída en la película "Propuesta indecente" protagonizada por Robert Redford y Demi Moore. Este disco fue editado solamente en Europa. 

Debido seguramente al escaso éxito de este último trabajo, se toma un prolongado descanso y retorna en 1997 con el álbum titulado simplemente "Lisa Stansfield" en el que el tema "The Real Thing" tiene un notable éxito , al punto que se coloca nro. 2 en las listas inglesas. Junto a esta canción, también son de recordar "Never, never gonna give you up" de Barry White, "I´m leavin" "People hold on" del grupo Coldcut , con quienes grabó dicha canción antes de lanzarse como solista. 

En 1999 participa como actriz e interpreta también la banda sonora de la pelìcula "Swing", dándose el gusto de actuar y cantar. 

2001 significarìa el retorno de la cantante con el trabajo llamado "Face up" , con canciones como "Let´s just call it love" "I´m coming to get you" y "8-3-1". Este disco no supera el puesto 38 del ranking inglès. 

En el año 2003 se edita un compilado editado en cd, dvd y vhs titulado "Biography: The Best of Lisa Stansfield" donde se juntan las mejores interpretaciones de toda su carrera, acompañadas de videos y comentarios de la misma Lisa , que narra su carrera. 

Pero en 2004 vuelve a la carga con el disco "The Moment" donde estrena sello discográfico (ZZT, debido a que terminó su contrato con BMG/Ariola) y productor (Trevor Horn). La primera canción del disco "Easier" es muy bella y también "Treat me like a woman". Este disco es el retorno a las fuentes de su sonido soul, con toques acùsticos. 

En 2005 se edita el dvd "Lisa Stansfield : Live at Ronnie Scott´s" un show en el mítico pub donde Lisa interpreta sus mejores canciones. Trabajo recomendable , puesto que se ve y se oye excelentemente. Se ve a una Lisa Stansfield madura pero fresca en su registro vocal inalterable y acompañada por una magnìfica banda.
